Zero-knowledge encryption ensures that even Filvacy cannot read your documents. Here is how it works and why it is the standard for professionals handling sensitive data.
When you send a document to an ordinary cloud provider, that provider can technically read your files. Zero-knowledge encryption changes everything: data is encrypted on your device before being sent, with a key that only you hold.
At Filvacy, each organization has a cryptographic key pair (public / private). The private key is encrypted with your password — it never leaves your device in plain text. Documents are encrypted with the organization's public key before upload, and can only be decrypted with the private key.
Zero-knowledge has a cost: if you lose your password, documents are unrecoverable. That is why Filvacy allows you to designate a trusted officer who can reset your access in an emergency.
Recommendation: always designate an officer in your organization. It is your safety net in case of lost access.
